SUMMARY:YADCA November 2025
DESCRIPTION:The next YADCA Forum is on this coming Monday 10 November 2025 at Connections\, 29 Low Street Yandina\, starting at 7.00 pm. All welcome. \nMP Marty Hunt will be in attendance along with the Officer in Charge of the Nambour Police Station who will discuss policing matters in Yandina. \nMarty will comment on power supply issues in our area and take questions from the floor. \nAndrew Kardash from Halycon Stockland will give a presentation on Halycon Yandina’s plans to expand. Stockland has purchased the remaining residential zoned land between Steggalls Road and Brandons Road. \nOther News: \n\nCouncil has confirmed it has plans to demolish the local heritage listed Pratt truss rail bridge and Old Rattley at Chambers Crossing. We are communicating with the relevant authorities to see what can be saved of these 2 pieces of our pioneering history. There has been a minor change to the approval granted on 23 May 2019 (MCU18/0238.01) for Greenhouses at 199 / 269 Yandina Bli Bli Rd\, Maroochy River 4561. It is now a strawberry growing glasshouse facility. (Berries Galore Pty Ltd plan below).\nThe farm will operate with 12 picking robots 24/7\, blackout screens for night operations will minimise light glare. Full automation of crop picking means 162 staff car parks reduce to 66\, and there will be less truck movements in and out.\nThe minor change is the staging of construction\, internal fit-out re the automation systems.\nThe scale of built form remains largely unchanged in a broader context with the greenhouse height now reduced to 7m.\nA development application has been lodged to replace 2 houses in Low Street with 25 townhouses for use as long or short-term accommodation (MCU25/0298 & OPW25/0446). Parking plans include 26 resident spaces and seven visitor spaces.Part of the site is subject to flooding and the report states that a combination of “engineering and architectural design solutions have been utilised to address the site’s flood constraints and hazard.” These include constructing some of the townhouses on piers to allow floodwater to flow beneath and excavating beneath an undercroft to increase flood storage capacity.\nUnfortunately we don’t have anyone monitoring development applications. If you think you could spare approximately 2 hours a month to provide this service please contact me.\nMembership renewals are still coming in. Please check that you have renewed your membership for 2025-26.\n\nThat’s all for now. I hope to see you on Monday night. \nKind regards\,\nMarie\nYADCA President\nPresident@yadca.org\n0487 467 270 \nBerries Galore Pty Ltd plan.
