SUMMARY:YADCA June 2025
DESCRIPTION:Forum Monday June 9 2025 at Connections\, Low St\, Yandina. 7pm.\nThe next YADCA forum is on Monday 9 June at Connections – Baptist Church from 7.00 pm. Come and share your thoughts on local issues and get updates on current projects. \nUpdates\n1. Raised pedestrian crossing on Old Gympie Road\n \nAttached is a PDF of information from Cr David Law regarding an investigation into design solutions for a raised pedestrian crossing on Old Gympie Road\, Yandina. Council’s Design Team would welcome community feedback at DesignServices@sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au or contact Council’s customer service and quote project number P-K8589. \n2. Bunya Road\, North Arm — safety concerns \nMarty Hunt MP followed up on concerns raised at a recent YADCA forum about the state of Bunya Road undulations and discovered that it is a Council road. \nCouncil responded that: “the issue appears to relate more to the angulation of the road rather than typical maintenance concerns such as cracks or potholes. Addressing this type of issue would require a full road resurfacing. However\, due to the natural topography of the area\, even a resurfacing may not fully resolve the problem\, as the road has been constructed to follow the contours of the surrounding land rather than being completely level. \nCouncil prioritises road resurfacing and renewal based on asset management principles\, which take into account a range of factors including traffic volumes\, road hierarchy\, asset condition\, and other relevant criteria. On average\, roads are resurfaced approximately every 20 years\, although this timeframe can vary depending on how well the road surface is holding up.” \n3. Construction on Stockland’s Halycon Yandina over 50s community will start later this year and take 4 years to complete. \n \n4. SCEC’s World Environment Day Festival Green Drinks features a panel discussion on ‘Designing and Building with Sustainability in Mind’.\nThursday 12 June 5.00 – 7.00 pm at Small Change Expresso in Nambour.\nRSVP for this free event here: https://bit.ly/4kGKOEW \nMarie Reeve\nYADCA President\n0487467270 \n\n\nYADCA meets on the second Monday of the month unless it is a public holiday\, in which case an alternative date will be advised. \nNew members and visitors are welcome to attend. \nOur Councilors and MPs are always welcome speaking guests. \nRefreshments available for gold coin donation. \nFor further information about the Yandina and District Community Association contact:\nSecretary secretary@yadca.org \nWeb: yadca.org\nFacebook: facebook.com/yadcayandina
