SUMMARY:YADCA November 2025
DESCRIPTION:The next YADCA Forum is on this coming Monday 10 November 2025 at Connections\, 29 Low Street Yandina\, starting at 7.00 pm. All welcome. \nMP Marty Hunt will be in attendance along with the Officer in Charge of the Nambour Police Station who will discuss policing matters in Yandina. \nMarty will comment on power supply issues in our area and take questions from the floor. \nAndrew Kardash from Halycon Stockland will give a presentation on Halycon Yandina’s plans to expand. Stockland has purchased the remaining residential zoned land between Steggalls Road and Brandons Road. \nOther News: \n\nCouncil has confirmed it has plans to demolish the local heritage listed Pratt truss rail bridge and Old Rattley at Chambers Crossing. We are communicating with the relevant authorities to see what can be saved of these 2 pieces of our pioneering history. There has been a minor change to the approval granted on 23 May 2019 (MCU18/0238.01) for Greenhouses at 199 / 269 Yandina Bli Bli Rd\, Maroochy River 4561. It is now a strawberry growing glasshouse facility. (Berries Galore Pty Ltd plan below).\nThe farm will operate with 12 picking robots 24/7\, blackout screens for night operations will minimise light glare. Full automation of crop picking means 162 staff car parks reduce to 66\, and there will be less truck movements in and out.\nThe minor change is the staging of construction\, internal fit-out re the automation systems.\nThe scale of built form remains largely unchanged in a broader context with the greenhouse height now reduced to 7m.\nA development application has been lodged to replace 2 houses in Low Street with 25 townhouses for use as long or short-term accommodation (MCU25/0298 & OPW25/0446). Parking plans include 26 resident spaces and seven visitor spaces.Part of the site is subject to flooding and the report states that a combination of “engineering and architectural design solutions have been utilised to address the site’s flood constraints and hazard.” These include constructing some of the townhouses on piers to allow floodwater to flow beneath and excavating beneath an undercroft to increase flood storage capacity.\nUnfortunately we don’t have anyone monitoring development applications. If you think you could spare approximately 2 hours a month to provide this service please contact me.\nMembership renewals are still coming in. Please check that you have renewed your membership for 2025-26.\n\nThat’s all for now. I hope to see you on Monday night. \nKind regards\,\nMarie\nYADCA President\nPresident@yadca.org\n0487 467 270 \nBerries Galore Pty Ltd plan.

SUMMARY:YADCA February 2026
DESCRIPTION:The first YADCA Forum for 2026 will be held on Monday February 9 at Connections\, 29 Low Street Yandina\, starting at 7.00 pm. \nWelcome to another year of community involvement. The management committee has started to plan for 2026. Input from members would be gratefully received. We would like to have a themed discussion with a guest presenter every second month. If there is a topic you would like to raise please let me know. \nOur first forum next Monday 9 February 2026 is on fire ants with members from the National Fire Ant Eradication Team giving a 30 minute presentation\, follower by Q&A and conversation over coffee and cake. \nThis topic affects us all. No one wants fire ants on their property. They have been detected at North Arm and the biosecurity map\, see below\, shows the potential area of risk. Fire ants can remain underground\, undetected\, for 2 years and can be spread by human activity. They can also fly up to 5km and float on rafts in flood water. They are a formidable pest; hard to detect and eliminate but with the potential to disrupt our ecology and lifestyle. Bring your friends and neighbours to this public forum at the Baptist Church’s Connections hall\, 29 Low Street\, Yandina\, starting at 7.00pm. \nDevelopment Monitor\nOPW26/0018 Vehicle crossover for 92 Farrell Street. Council has been asked to consider the welfare of pedestrians where the proposed access road for 92 Farrell Street crosses the footpath to school (map below). \nWe are following other Development Applications but have nothing more to report at this point in time. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions. \nI look forward to seeing you all next Monday. \nKind regards\nMarie \nYADCA President\nPresident@yadca.org\n0487 467 270 \n \n  \n\n\nYADCA meets on the second Monday of the month unless it is a public holiday\, in which case an alternative date will be advised. \nNew members and visitors are welcome to attend. \nOur Councilors and MPs are always welcome speaking guests. \nRefreshments available for gold coin donation. \nThere is no meeting in January. \nFor further information about the Yandina and District Community Association contact:\nSecretary secretary@yadca.org \nWeb: yadca.org\nFacebook: facebook.com/yadcayandina

(Download PDF here) The service station sign tops the list. \nFor your information\, the story in SCN about the Olympic Mountain Bike Centre on Yandina’s doorstep is interesting.\nhttps://www.sunshinecoastnews.com.au/2026/04/02/olympic-mountain-bike-centre-details-revealed/ \nOf particular note is the following: \n“Planning and design will also consider safe access via Yandina–Bli Bli Road and car parking\, with park-and-ride options during Games time. \nTransport and access arrangements will be finalised through Games Route Network Planning in partnership with the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads.” \nDoes that mean that they will look at the single lane bridge over Caboolture Creek? Maybe. Perhaps there is hope. \nJune Forum\nGrantley Switzer\, Sunshine Coast Program Lead – Brisbane 2032\, will be our guest speaker at YADCA’s June forum. He should be able to provide more information about what is being considered in the lead up to the Olympics and Paralympics. \nI look forward to seeing you all on Monday. \nKind regards\nMarie \nYADCA President\nPresident@yadca.org\n0487 467 270 \n\n\nYADCA meets on the second Monday of the month unless it is a public holiday\, in which case an alternative date will be advised. \nNew members and visitors are welcome to attend. \nOur Councilors and MPs are always welcome speaking guests. \nRefreshments available for gold coin donation. \nFor further information about the Yandina and District Community Association contact:\nSecretary secretary@yadca.org \nWeb: yadca.org\nFacebook: facebook.com/yadcayandina

DESCRIPTION:The June YADCA Forum will be held on Monday June 8 at Connections\, 29 Low Street Yandina\, starting at 7.00 pm. \nGuest speaker\nGrantley Switzer\, Head of 2032 Games Coordination for the Sunshine Coast Council will be our guest presenter at the June forum. \nYou will hear about the Sunshine Coast’s role in the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games and the Coast’s ongoing role as a Co-Host City. \nGrantley will discuss the current 2032 Games Venue Master Plan and those events proposed to be hosted in our region\, including infrastructure updates – competition venues\, athlete village and public transport – this will of course include an update on the Sunshine Coast Mountain Bike Centre\, to be developed in close proximity to Yandina. \nHe will also talk about known opportunities and impacts for local communities\, including the pipeline of opportunities for local businesses; and overarching legacy opportunities and planning for our region. \nThe Olympics are 6 years away. Come and here what is being planned and have your questions answered at the Baptist Church Connections Hall\, 29 Low Street Yandina\, on 8 June 2026\, starting at 7.00pm. \nMeeting at Valdora\, 13 June 2026\nValdora community hall will be holding a community meeting on the 13th June at 4pm. The meeting will be held at Valdora Hall. Agenda will include hall issues\, Airport updates\, and a discussion about the reapplication of the Flyers club to council. YADCA members are invited to attend. \nThe hall at present needs the support of community to keep functioning\, hoping to have a good turn out and people becoming hall members or rejoining. \nCouncil land on Stevens Street\nWe have a commitment that the overgrown block will be slashed and maintained. Work is expected to start soon on the construction of a footpath and 12 indented car parking spaces. Parks and Gardens will slash the block after the construction crew have set up. \nNew Development Application\nUnitywater has lodged a DA (download here) for a Bioresource Recovery Facility to be located on the site of the decommissioned sewage treatment plant at 10 Focus Lane in the Yandina East Industrial Estate. The facility will use an advanced thermal treatment (carbonisation) process to sustainably manage biosolids generated across Unitywater’s sewage treatment network. The end product is an agriculturall resource called biochar. \nThe development application\, (MCU26/0121) is Impact Assessable. Relevant documents can be found on Sunshine Coast Council development.i here. \nApproval of signage\nThe proposed signage for the Yandina Service Station (OPW26/0055) has been approved subject to several modifications. These include a reduced sign height of 5 metres (down from the proposed 6 metres)\, a sign face area of 10 m²\, and a 1 metre setback from Farrell Street. \nThis is better than originally proposed but not in keeping with all performance outcomes. Setbacks should be a minimum of 3 metres. The close proximity of the pylon sign to the footpath is a safety concern. \nAusCycle in Yandina in September\nYandina will be the venue for the 2026 AusCycling Junior and Masters Road National Championships. \nThe races will run over 4 days from 17 to 20 September 2026 and will attract around 500 athletes\, along with their families and supporters to Yandina. \nTime trials are on Thursday starting at 9.00 am and are run over a 15 km course along North Arm Yandina Creek Road\, starting and finishing at North Arm School. \nCompetition will move into Yandina on Friday with the Criterium which will start at the pedestrian lights on Farrell Street near the skate park and head south to North Street\, Carnival Street\, Steggalls Road and back on Farrell. Racing starts at 7.00 am and will run throughout the day until 5.00 pm. \nRoad races are on Saturday and Sunday. They will involve a number of laps\, starting at the northern end of Farrell Street and doing a circuit into Ninderry Road\, Fairhill Road\, North Arm Yandina Creek Road\, Bunya Road\, Ben William Road and back to the finishing line. Competition will start at 7.30 am on Saturday and 8.00 am on Sunday. \nRace organisers would love to include local businesses in their race information/technical guides. Businesses such as cafés\, restaurants\, bakeries\, massage providers and others that can offer something to participants and visitors during the event are encouraged to contact AusCycling at road.events@auscycling.org.au. \nSee race schedules in PDF here. \nThat’s all for now. See you at the forum next Monday.
