YADCA June 2026
The June YADCA Forum will be held on Monday June 8 at Connections, 29 Low Street Yandina, starting at 7.00 pm.
Guest speaker
Grantley Switzer, Head of 2032 Games Coordination for the Sunshine Coast Council will be our guest presenter at the June forum.
You will hear about the Sunshine Coast’s role in the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games and the Coast’s ongoing role as a Co-Host City.
Grantley will discuss the current 2032 Games Venue Master Plan and those events proposed to be hosted in our region, including infrastructure updates – competition venues, athlete village and public transport – this will of course include an update on the Sunshine Coast Mountain Bike Centre, to be developed in close proximity to Yandina.
He will also talk about known opportunities and impacts for local communities, including the pipeline of opportunities for local businesses; and overarching legacy opportunities and planning for our region.
The Olympics are 6 years away. Come and here what is being planned and have your questions answered at the Baptist Church Connections Hall, 29 Low Street Yandina, on 8 June 2026, starting at 7.00pm.
Meeting at Valdora, 13 June 2026
Valdora community hall will be holding a community meeting on the 13th June at 4pm. The meeting will be held at Valdora Hall. Agenda will include hall issues, Airport updates, and a discussion about the reapplication of the Flyers club to council. YADCA members are invited to attend.
The hall at present needs the support of community to keep functioning, hoping to have a good turn out and people becoming hall members or rejoining.
Council land on Stevens Street
We have a commitment that the overgrown block will be slashed and maintained. Work is expected to start soon on the construction of a footpath and 12 indented car parking spaces. Parks and Gardens will slash the block after the construction crew have set up.
New Development Application
Unitywater has lodged a DA (download here) for a Bioresource Recovery Facility to be located on the site of the decommissioned sewage treatment plant at 10 Focus Lane in the Yandina East Industrial Estate. The facility will use an advanced thermal treatment (carbonisation) process to sustainably manage biosolids generated across Unitywater’s sewage treatment network. The end product is an agriculturall resource called biochar.
The development application, (MCU26/0121) is Impact Assessable. Relevant documents can be found on Sunshine Coast Council development.i here.
Approval of signage
The proposed signage for the Yandina Service Station (OPW26/0055) has been approved subject to several modifications. These include a reduced sign height of 5 metres (down from the proposed 6 metres), a sign face area of 10 m², and a 1 metre setback from Farrell Street.
This is better than originally proposed but not in keeping with all performance outcomes. Setbacks should be a minimum of 3 metres. The close proximity of the pylon sign to the footpath is a safety concern.
AusCycle in Yandina in September
Yandina will be the venue for the 2026 AusCycling Junior and Masters Road National Championships.

Competition will move into Yandina on Friday with the Criterium which will start at the pedestrian lights on Farrell Street near the skate park and head south to North Street, Carnival Street, Steggalls Road and back on Farrell. Racing starts at 7.00 am and will run throughout the day until 5.00 pm.
Road races are on Saturday and Sunday. They will involve a number of laps, starting at the northern end of Farrell Street and doing a circuit into Ninderry Road, Fairhill Road, North Arm Yandina Creek Road, Bunya Road, Ben William Road and back to the finishing line. Competition will start at 7.30 am on Saturday and 8.00 am on Sunday.
Race organisers would love to include local businesses in their race information/technical guides. Businesses such as cafés, restaurants, bakeries, massage providers and others that can offer something to participants and visitors during the event are encouraged to contact AusCycling at road.events@auscycling.org.au.
See race schedules in PDF here.
That’s all for now. See you at the forum next Monday.
Kind regards
