UPDATE

Meeting with Marty Hunt MP. Marie, Libbie and Keith met with Marty Hunt MP on 1 October 2026, to discuss pedestrian access to town from the Wappa Falls Road area. YADCA is advocating for an active transport bridge on the western side of the James Low Bridge (similar to the Eumundi AT bridge), in the long term. In the meantime, we have asked Marty to request TMR investigate a safe pedestrian crossing, so residents (including school children) can access the low level river crossing east of the James Low Bridge.

Management Committee meeting with Brad Gates from Mountain Property on 29 September 2026. Mountain Property is an Australian property developer focused on large-scale master-planned residential, commercial, and industrial projects. Mountain Property is speculating on the Yandina SEQ Development Area, remaining on the new South East Queensland Regional Plan (SEQRP) which is currently under review by the State Government. The Draft SEQRP is predicted to be available in December 2026 for comment. Mountain Property has a contract to buy 2 properties on Lees Road provided the Yandina SEQ Development Area remains on the SEQRP.

Before any development can take place, the area has to be identified as an SEQ Development Area on the new SEQRP and a Structure Plan has to be prepared. Council would normally lead the planning process. Alternatively, the State government could have a lead role (e.g. similar to Caloundra South). The lead agency for this process has not yet been determined.

The Management Committee discussed the impact such a large development would have on the Yandina township and infrastructure, and what would need to happen to reduce that impact.

I look forward to you joining the conversation on Monday night.

Kind regards
Marie
