YADCA’s attempts to secure Council funding for more parking in Yandina have stalled.
In November, on the advice of Sunshine Coast Councillor Greg Rogerson, YADCA wrote to the Mayor and Councillors seeking their support to pay for more parking in Stevens Street west, outside the Yandina School of Arts.
Cr Rogerson had committed $100,000 from his discretionary fund for the works; but that fell short of the amount needed to complete the project.
However, he informed the December meeting of YADCA that the streetscaping is entirely reliant on a ‘confidential’ matter relating solely to the joint owners of the two properties located at the corner of Farrell and Stevens Streets.
Due to the confidentiality issues, Cr Rogerson said, he cannot discuss the matter; and the parking issue remains unresolved. When asked if this turn of events had taken him by surprise, he said ‘yes’.
