Vast intensive horticulture development planned for Yandina Bli Bli Rd

A grower is seeking funding for a controversial greenhouse development on the Yandina Bli Bli Road in Maroochy River, according to the Sunshine Coast Daily.

Last year Sunshine Coast Council approved a development application to build six greenhouses, to grow cucumbers, on the land.

The development application was lodged by Sunny Coast Fresh Holdings Pty Ltd, whose sole director was Mr Peter Van den Goor.

However, the newspaper reports that Mr Van den Goor pulled out, and Mr Folco Faber, who runs Apex Greenhouses, has taken over Sunny Coast Fresh.  He is now reportedly seeking construction funding for the project.

The proposed development has been opposed by locals due to its impact on the scenic amenity (it is on a tourist route); and traffic safety concerns with heavy trucks using the narrow road and one lane Caboolture Creek Bridge.  See previous article
